Café Mouffe: Layah Jane and Oliver Johnson

We skipped the virtual café last week and went for the real thing — the Moonshine Café in Oakville, to be precise, where we heard Layah and Ollie perform Firefly. They were joined by Brian MacMillan, who appears on the Rochester clips linked below. Curious about these fine young musicians? See Layah’s homepage and MySpace plus Ollie’s Toronto recording studio, The Hive.

Encore: See Sweet Tooth, filmed somewhere bucolic in the north woods, and Put Your Foot Down and acoustic blues from the 2007 Rochester Jazz Festival. Layah also did the soundtrach for a Dove “Real Beauty” commercial mixed at The Hive.

Café Mouffe has slipped into an irregular schedule for summer. Look for it on Friday afternoons or some enchanted midsummer eve. Please drop by for a listen and a chat. Sometimes the embedded videos don’t work here due to bandwidth constraints, but you’ll always find links to video sources in the set notes. Try them. If you’re curious about the Mouffe, here’s the original idea behind it’s creation.
